The Chapel Collective’s Commitment to Children and Young People
At The Chapel Collective, we are deeply committed to creating safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces for children, young people, and their families. We believe that every child is made in the image of God, filled with potential and purpose. Our mission is to ensure that every child and young person in our care knows they are valued, loved, and called.
The safety and wellbeing of children and young people are at the heart of all our decisions, programs, and interactions. We are committed to the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, the NSW Child Safe Standards, the ACC Safer Churches Policy, and the child protection laws of New South Wales.
We are building a church culture where children, young people, and families feel safe, supported, and empowered to engage fully in the life of the church and to raise concerns confidently if needed. We acknowledge the diversity of backgrounds, abilities, and needs in our community, and strive—within our resources—to create programs that are inclusive and encourage active participation from all children and youth.
Safeguarding children and young people is a shared responsibility of our entire community—our Board, Pastors, Leaders, Staff, Volunteers, Students, and Attendees. The complete Safer Churches Policy is listed here:
Our Commitment
At The Chapel Collective, we are committed to ensuring the safety of all children and young people through the following:
Fostering a culture of safety at every level of our organisation.
Taking all allegations or disclosures of abuse or neglect seriously, responding appropriately, and reporting concerns to relevant authorities, prioritising the safety of the child or young person.
Empowering children, young people, families, and communities to engage with and contribute to our programs, including providing opportunities for feedback.
Promoting inclusion and celebrating diversity, ensuring programs are age-appropriate and accessible within the capacity of each location.
Screening and training all volunteers and staff working with children and young people, and providing them with appropriate supervision and support.
Ensuring children and young people know who they can speak to if they feel unsafe and that they feel comfortable doing so.
Equipping our team with the necessary knowledge, skills, and awareness to uphold child safety at all times.
Maintaining safe, suitable, and secure physical and online environments for children and youth.
Embedding the National Principles and ACC Safer Churches Policy into all our programs and ministry operations.
Regularly reviewing and improving our child safety policies and procedures to ensure we are creating the best possible environment for the young people entrusted to us.
